Why a newsletter?
Authors are all about reaching their readers. Finding the ones that really resonate with them and their writing, and then engaging with them about the characters and worlds we’ve created, is one of our favorite things to do. We’ve started a gang here, and we want you to join. I’d much rather engage with a small group of people who I know read and like my books than fire emails out into the ether hoping to connect by chance with those that might like my stories.
So if you join my newsletter you’ll get just that. To sweeten the deal I’ll share some stuff only with you. Things like free short stories involving the characters. Pictures and detailed descriptions of actual places I use in the books. Character bios like Jack’s military file (somewhat redacted). Swag items I have to offer. (Since we’re a gang I may need to get us some leather jackets, looking into that) What else? Um, first looks at upcoming books and other stories, cover art previews, meet-up locations and dates where we can drink scotch and discuss the ways of the world, and pictures of Henry, can’t forget him.
So sign up and get all that and more. Use an email you’ll actually use so you don’t miss anything. I promise not to bombard you, we’re talking a few emails a month max. I don’t need more than that and neither do you. We’re currently 5,000 strong, but we’ve still got room for you!
What happens to Danny?
Following the conclusion of CLOSURE Danny manages to climb the ladder at the Washington Post and move himself out of the metro section. But having a senior FBI agent as a source is not enough, he needs to earn his stripes. To do so he’s always watching for the next opportunity to prove himself.
That opportunity arrives in the form of Sean Parker, a veteran war photographer on his way to Syria who needs a “pencil jockey” to go with him. Danny manages to fill a last-minute opening and tag along.
He has no idea what that means, but he finds out real quick.
This story is available ONLY to my gang members. Here’s the blurb:
“Danny Drake is hungry. A good supply of natural talent, some reporter’s luck, and a natural ability to sniff out a good story have landed him a dream job at The Washington Post. But covering D.C. crime for the metro section is not the career he had envisioned. When fate gives him a chance to shadow a veteran photographer on an assignment to war-torn Syria he jumps at it without really understanding what it means. Like many things in war, for those who lack the proper insight the lessons come quickly, and not without some pain”.
